Terastal Festival God Pack from a Japanese Booster Box

The Ultimate 2026 Guide to God Packs in the Japanese Pokemon TCG

"God packs" are the pinnacle of any collector's ripping journey when opening modern booster packs. God packs contain a secret rare in every single card slot, and nothing beats the exhilaration of holding a stack of hits in your hands.

While many collectors know what a god pack is, some are left clueless when it comes to knowing which sets contain god packs, and what to expect from a certain set's god pack. All that mystery will no longer be confusing after reading through this guide.

Which Sets Have God Packs?

Because god packs are only from certain modern sets, it is very easy to memorize which sets have them:

There is, however, a distinction that separates these sets into two categories. Pokemon 151, Black Bolt, and White Flare are considered "specialty sets" and here's what you need to know about specialty sets.

Specialty Sets Are Themed Sets With God Packs

As you can see in the image provided, specialty sets look like a normal Japanese booster box but only have 20 packs instead of the standard 30 in other Japanese booster boxes. However, each pack has 7 cards instead of the slim packs with 5 cards, so don't worry, you're not losing out on as many cards as you think!

Additionally, specialty sets focus on a regional theme (so far)! If you couldn't guess, Pokemon 151 focuses on the original 151 Pokemon from the Kanto region, but with all the modern rarities introduced in the Scarlet & Violet era. Black Bolt and White Flare are a dual set release that focuses on the 156 unique Unova Pokemon, and every 156 of those Pokemon have an art rare or special art rare card to collect between the two sets.

The rest of the sets with god packs have a different classification and different booster box contents.

High-Class Sets are Yearly Reprint Sets With God Packs

While "high-class" sets can technically be themed, there are 3 main features of a Japanese high-class set.

  • These are sets that release near the end of every year (Nov. - Dec.) and are filled with popular, playable cards reprinted with the same or new artwork.
  • The booster box takes a slim, rectangular look different from your standard Japanese booster box.
  • Each booster box only features 10 packs, but those packs have 10 cards like English packs, and also feature guaranteed hit rates with an ex or V card at minimum in every pack depending on the era.

Just because high-class sets have more cards per pack than specialty sets, don't automatically assume the god packs from high class sets are better! Let's break down the contents of every single god pack to exist and you be the one to decide which one is the most valuable.

What's Inside Each Different God Pack?

To organize everything neatly, all god packs are separated by era in reverse chronological order. If you don't know the rarity names mean in the right-hand column, learn about them here!

"Demigod Packs" Are Another Type of Rare Pack

Demigod packs are better than pulling just one SAR in a pack, but worse than a god pack full of hits.

This doesn't need a dedicated section for the Japanese Pokemon TCG because currently only Terastal Festival has demigod packs for Japanese sets. Instead of pulling 8 Eeveelution and 1 Eevee SAR, a demigod pack from Terastal just contains a handful of reverse holos and 3 Eeveelution SARs.

Are You Ready to Rip?

By no means should you expect to pull a god pack, but ripping Japanese can be extremely fun. High-class sets have a hit in every pack, and even standard Japanese booster boxes have guaranteed hit rates within the booster box so you'll always get a card to add to your binder, or trade with someone if you don't like what you hit!
